Recycling: It’s the Law
Recycling is mandatory for Town of Bloomsburg residents, businesses, schools, offices, multi-family housing units and organizers of special events. The Town of Bloomsburg was the first community in Pennsylvania to provide curbside collection of recycling starting in August of 1977.

THE BLOOMSBURG RECYCLING CENTER LOCATED AT 901 PATTERSON DRIVE IN BLOOMSBURG WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT IT WILL REMAIN OPEN REGULAR HOURS.
The Bloomsburg Recycling Center would like to remind everyone to take the time to clean containers, and follow the guidelines on acceptable materials. Bloomsburg’s Recycling Center Drop off provides an outlet for clean and sorted materials. A complete list of acceptable items can be found at www.bloomsburgpa.org/recycle or pick up a drop off guideline brochure at the recycling center. Common items that are NOT accepted include: NO foam packaging, NO gable top milk or juice cartons, NO plastic packaging, NO plastic bags, NO oil or antifreeze containers, NO hangers, NO toys, NO window pane and NO trash. These items have never been collected. If you are not sure if it can be recycled please ask don’t assume. A simple motto is “when in doubt throw it out”.
Special note regarding Plastic recycling – please recycle only bottles and containers.
#1 PET Bottles include soda, water, ketchup, mayo and more all have a dimple on the bottom.
#2 HDPE includes milk jugs and colored bottles such as laundry detergent and cleaner bottles.
#3 -7 Containers – Refers to only the items listed below.
ELECTRONIC RECYCLING HAS BEEN SUSPENDED
Compost Site – Located on Sands Street
The Compost site will be open on October 18 and 19 2019, however the 11th Street entrance will be closed due to the Floodwall Construction Project. Please use the Sands Street entrance.

The Bloomsburg Compost Site provides drop off for compostable materials (see below), and supplies free compost and wood chips to the residents of the Town of Bloomsburg and Scott Township (Identification is Required). Compost and wood chips are also available to non-residents for a small fee. Contact the Recycling Center for further information.

Shredding
Does your business generate a lot of confidential office paper and are looking for a safe way to outlet this material? Well, the Bloomsburg Recycling Center offers a Confidential office paper shredding program.
Here is how the program works:
All material must be delivered to the Center where it will be weighed first then shredded immediately.
To assure that shredding will occur immediately, a scheduled appointment is required in advance.
Fee Schedule:
Under 500 lbs. $50.00
500-1000 lbs. $75.00
1000-2000 lbs. $150.00
over 2000 lbs. Base fee of $150.00 + $50 next 500 lbs., + $75 2500-3000 lbs., + $150 3001-4000 lbs.

Curbside Collection

- clear glass
- brown glass
- green glass
- newspaper
- plastic bottles #1 and #2

Recycling Center
Bloomsburg Recycling Center maintains a source separated drop off facility for the following materials. All acceptable items must be deposited into the appropriately labeled bin for each item.
