Town Public Works crew are collecting leaves daily now through Thanksgiving. The collection schedule follows the street maintenance signs posted on every street. Leaves should be raked to the curb in manageable piles for the vacuum truck to suck up. Please make sure not to have any rocks or other harmful debris in the pile as it will damage the collection equipment. The curbside collection is for leaves only. Reminder that all brush and branches can be taken to the Compost Site located at the corner of Sands and 11th Streets. The compost site is open on Wednesday’s 2:00p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the fall and is also open Saturday’s from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Did you Know:
The leaves collected this year will be put in long windrows to decompose and will become ready to use compost next spring. Residents can pick up compost while the supply lasts at no charge.
Also residents can pick up ground up mulch at the compost site. The Town operates a large grinder for wood wastes collected throughout the year. This material can be picked up during the open hours. Loading is the responsibility of the individual, so bring your shovel or pitch fork
