ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – APPLICATION DEADLINE: 05/05/17
The Town of Bloomsburg has an opening for a full-time Administrative Assistant. Applicants will provide support to the administrative department and must be detail oriented, possess competent written and oral communication skills, excellent financial and business skills and have extensive computer knowledge in MS Word, Excel & Power Point. The successful applicant will have direct contact with the public, answering telephone, generating/filing a multitude of business, statistical and financial reports for the Town Manager as well as attend and take notes for meetings. This position requires a solid understanding of office support functions and will be accountable for multiple tasks. Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; occasional overtime may be required. Candidates must have a minimum of 1-3 years office/secretarial experience, preferably in the municipal government arena. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS OPERATOR – APPLICATION DEADLINE: 04/27/17
The Public Works Department of the Town of Bloomsburg has an opening for a full time Operator. The position is within a union shop and covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of light, medium, and heavy equipment as well as duties related to construction and maintenance of Town roads and Town facilities. Applicants must have 2 years experience as a municipal public works employee or 4 years in construction as an equipment operator. Experience operating a loader-backhoe is a plus. Applicants must possess a valid Class B Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License or obtain such licensure within six month introductory period. Applicants must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. This position requires bending, climbing, crouching and lifting on a daily basis. Applicants will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Starting pay is $18.94 per hour with a $1/hr increase after 6 month probationary period, plus a generous benefits package. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
DIRECTOR OF CODE ENFORCEMENT/ZONING/FLOOD PLAIN MANAGEMENT
The Town of Bloomsburg has a full-time opening for a Director of Code Enforcement in a fast paced office environment. This exempt position requires the minimum of a High School Education and ten years progressive experience in local government administration which includes experience with municipal codes, ordinances, planning, zoning, floodplain management and HARB, with five of those years being in Code Enforcement Management. Must have BCO, experience with rental inspection programs, and strong supervisory skills. Evening meetings required. Excellent benefit package, salary dependent on experience.
