The Town of Bloomsburg will be holding a public hearing on the draft 2023 Comprehensive Plan on Monday, July 17th at 5 p.m. The draft can be reviewed by clicking on this link. Any suggestions/ changes can be sent directly to Kyle Bauman at kbauman@bloomsburgpa.org by Thursday, July 13th at 2 p.m. Council may adopt the comprehensive plan on July 17th at 7 p.m. following the public hearing.
Over a 12 month rewrite of the Comprehensive Plan it ran smooth, thanks to Kyle Bauman’s leadership. Kyle received all comments from the Planning Commission, Council, staff, public and local organizations to compile the 142 page document. Kyle was hired in 2013 with a background as a Geography Major from Bloomsburg University specializing in Environment Planning. Kyle has been involved with the Planning Commission since 2014. The year of 2009 was the last time the Town’s comprehensive plan was updated with assistance from a third party. The late Bob Aungst, who assisted the Planning Commission was against spending Town funds on third party agencies and voiced his concerns with Town leaders to internalize this process. Kyle not only internalized by taking the reins, but also saved tax payer funds by doing so. When reflecting on the 2009 Comprehensive Plan, Kyle is most impressed of past Council’s achievements of the goals and growth the Town undertook and took part of.
When officially adopted, this comprehensive plan will certainly be cited in various grant applications for assisting the Town’s future. Thank you Kyle for leaving your footprint on this project and continuing to make a difference while working here at the Town as a planner.
