Station)
ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS
Bloomsburg Recycling Center mantains a
source seperated drop off facility for the following materials.
All acceptable items must be deposited into the appropriately labeled bin for each item.
GLASS:
ACCEPTABLE: clear, brown, and green bottles and jars - separated by color. All bottles and jars must be emptied, rinsed and all caps and lids removed.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: window panes, light bulbs, drinking glass or dishes, ceramics, mirrors and unclean jars with food.
CANS:
ACCEPTABLE: steel (food cans) and aluminum (beverage cans) - separated by metal. All cans must be emptied and rinsed.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: foil, pie tins, or aerosol cans, pots and pans and scrap metal.
NEWSPRINT:
ACCEPTABLE: newspapers, inserts and ads, phone books. Keep dry.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: junk mail. (see mixed paper)
PLASTIC:
ACCEPTABLE: #1 PET and #2 HDPE bottles (soda, milk, juice, ketchup, detergent, cleaner). Empty and rinse, discard caps and lids. HINT #1 PET bottles have a dimple on the bottom.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: #3-#7 plastic containers, non-bottle plastics, plastic bags, ARIZONA tea jugs, margarine tubs, yogurt cups, motor oil bottles or antifreeze jugs.
CARDBOARD:
ACCEPTABLE: corrugated cardboard boxes (flattened) and brown paper bags.
OFFICE PAPER:
ACCEPTABLE: shredded or whole computer paper, copy paper, other white office paper.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: carbon
paper, window envelopes or construction paper.
MAGAZINES/CATALOGS
ACCEPTABLE: junk mail and envelopes (with or without windows), file folders, manila envelopes, posters, greeting cards, paperboard boxes and cartons (cereal, shoe box, gift box, rice, pasta, frozen food, cookie/cake and cracker boxes, etc.), paper towel tubes, phone books, writing tablets, flyers, brochures.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: milk cartons, juice boxes, photographs, carbon paper, plates, cups, utensils, or any non-paper item such as styrofoam, plastic or metal.
BOOKS: hard cover and soft cover.
ELECTRONICS: computer monitors, drives/casing, printers, peripherals (keyboards, mouse, speakers, cables), VCR's, fax machines and radios.
